Exceptional Student of the Month - April 2010


The Career Development Center is partnering with the CSU Thurgood Marshall College Fund Ambassador & The NABA Chicago Mentoring Program to highlight an "Exceptional Student" every month.


So, for the month of April 2010,

Who is someone you admire? Why? I admire my mother because throughout her life she stayed true to her passion and provided a great life for her children. She has been a teacher within [the] Chicago Public Schools for over 30 years. She always gives great advice and unconditional love.

If you could invite any 3 people to dinner, who would you invite? Why? Jamie Dimon, Chairman & CEO of JP Morgan Chase, [it would be an] opportunity to get career advice on how to excel with the company. Maya Angelou; I would love to gain any insight on her exceptional wisdom and hear some beautiful poetry. My mother; it is always a joy being near her, I feel a sense of comfort in her company.

If you could travel anywhere, where would you go? I would love to travel to South Africa. It has all the elements of a great vacation- shopping, good weather, cultural activities, beaches & historical significance.

What is one interesting fact about you? An interesting fact about me is that all throughout my childhood years, my career ambition was to become the 1st African American woman to walk on Mars.

What are your short term goals? Graduate from CSU on May 27, 2010 with cum laude honors; begin [my] career as a Technology Analyst with JP Morgan in Chicago, IL.

What are your long term goals? Within 5 years; [to] purchase a condo or loft in downtown Chicago; begin an MBA program at the University of Chicago. Within 10 years; become Vice President within Treasury & Security Services at JP Morgan, managing multiple teams in different countries.
